What is Europe on Track?

What is Europe on Track?

Europe on Track is a project of AEGEE, run by young volunteers who aim to raise awareness, to create a space for discussion and to capture the opinions of youth in Europe on  important social issues.

🚂

The idea for the project came up in 2013, when AEGEE-Europe and InterRail formed a partnership after brainstorming an idea: a project involving 6 young Europeans travelling the whole continent by train whilst conducting interviews, giving sessions and bringing the policies of the European Union closer to young people. The topics of youth participation, sustainability and entrepreneurship would be key components of possible discussions.

Since then, thanks to Eurail, the European Youth Foundation, from the Council of Europe, and the European Union; our ambassadors travel in teams by train across Europe in one month to deliver workshops, interview young people and organize events in cooperation with over 200 volunteers from all over the continent.

What is the focus of Europe on Track 12?

This year, the project team will address eco-anxiety and its impact on young people across Europe. As the climate crisis intensifies, many young Europeans experience overwhelming feelings of fear, helplessness, and distress about environmental degradation and an uncertain future. However, eco-anxiety doesn’t have to lead to paralysis – it can become a catalyst for meaningful action.

Europe on Track 12 will explore how young people can channel eco-anxiety into collective climate action and civic engagement. The project will examine the psychological and social dimensions of climate concern, while highlighting the power of community organising, youth-led initiatives, and cross-border collaboration in responding to the climate emergency. Participants will discover how to transform individual anxiety into collective resilience, creating spaces where young people can connect, support each other, and mobilise for systemic change.

Together, we’ll turn climate concern into climate action.
